Turn your classroom into a dynamic and powerful team of scientists and engineers. With the power of simple programs we can harvest and navigate large sets of data and recognize patterns not imaginable just a few years ago. In this workshop we will demonstrate how to collect data such as heat data from thousands of points in the environment, track animal and human behaviors with smart phone apps and build a sensor which can be relay data for up to 12 miles back to your classroom. All of this will allow us to engage in authentic inquiry as scientists as outlined in the practices in the NGSS.We will also quickly highlight how to contribute this data into larger bodies of data of other citizen scientists who are also eager to explain phenomenon across the planet.
